Director, Finance & Accounting

Position Summary

Aeon has doubled in size over the past 3 ½ years to 200 staff, 59 affordable apartment properties, and 5,660 apartment homes.  We plan to more than double in size again in the next handful of years.  Aeon’s Director, Finance & Accounting must play a key leadership role to help maintain Aeon’s “Exemplary” ratings and to provide even greater capacity to positively affect the lives of families and individuals with quality affordable apartment homes.

You will be accountable for the accurate, timely, and effective delivery of all accounting systems and processes, financial reports, financial and tax compliance, and treasury management, including audits, budgeting processes, and the management of Aeon’s banking needs.

You will evaluate, develop, and continually improve policies and procedures for efficient, effective financial and accounting operations.   You will report to Aeon’s CFO, Caroline Horton, a nationally recognized finance leader in the affordable housing arena.

Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated achievements with formal training & education (or the equivalent) in accounting or finance
  • Proven, positive people-management experience and skills
  • Intercultural competence
  • Must have a commitment to learning and participating in Aeon’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
  • Strong communication, technology, analytical and management competencies
  • A thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • CPA credentials, experience in multifamily housing, or management and nonprofit experience warrants closer consideration.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience. Aeon’s comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees includes: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, retirement plan, paid time off and an employee assistance program.
